EN — A 30-member business delegation from Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan province, concluded a week-long trade mission to New Zealand on June 5 with agreements worth an estimated NZ$240 million across agriculture technology, education services, and advanced manufacturing.
The mission, organised by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce and supported by the Hunan Provincial Government, visited Auckland, Hamilton, and Christchurch. Key outcomes include a NZ$85 million joint venture between Zoomlion Heavy Industry and a Hamilton-based precision engineering firm to produce agricultural machinery components for the Asia-Pacific market, and a NZ$60 million partnership between Hunan Agricultural University and Lincoln University to establish a joint research centre on sustainable dairy farming.
Changsha Vice Mayor Gao Wenqi, who led the delegation, said the mission "deepened the sister-city relationship between Changsha and Hamilton" and opened doors for Hunan's rapidly growing advanced manufacturing sector. In the education sector, six New Zealand universities signed student exchange agreements with Hunan-based institutions, targeting 500 students annually within three years.
