EN — New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries released its June 2026 SOPI report on June 5, forecasting total primary sector export revenue to reach a record NZ$62 billion in the year to June 2027, up 6.2% from the previous year.

Dairy export revenue is projected to grow 8.1% to NZ$26.4 billion, underpinned by strong global milk powder prices and improved production conditions following a favourable autumn. Meat and wool exports are expected to rise 4.3% to NZ$13.1 billion, while horticulture — including kiwifruit, apples and wine — is forecast to contribute NZ$8.2 billion, up 7.5%.

Director-General Ray Smith emphasised the sector's resilience: "Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, New Zealand's food and fibre story continues to resonate globally. Our exporters are increasingly pivoting toward value-added products and diversifying into markets beyond traditional partners."

The report also highlighted strong growth in the seafood sector, with exports projected to reach NZ$2.4 billion, driven by premium wild-caught species and aquaculture expansion. Processed food and beverages are forecast to contribute NZ$4.6 billion.
